One day bike buy, sell, and donate event the first Saturday in May every year. We charge a nominal fee of 12% to sell a bike, and donate 50% of the profit back to the community to support local cycling causes, the other 50% stays in the bank to fund more swaps. From this profit we pledge $50 to cyclists in the MS Tours and the Ride to Conquer Cancer, built bike racks for community event use, fund and support BikeCalgary, fund and give the donated bikes to Good Life and Two Wheel View, defray the container costs for Bicycles for Humanity, put on and fund events for Cyclepalooza, and any lend our community racks out as often as possible.
We also created a bi-fold bicycle safety card that we distribute to all and sundry. We think funding the bike swaps is a tangible use of our life savings, and we're only on this planet once, we don't compete with bike shops, nor do we advocate or lobby. We support safe cycling, and we hope this is put to the forefront of all bike discussions. There are three components to most things in life; engineering, education, and enforcement, we hope our bicycle safety card provides the education component.
