Plan It Calgary Summit
November 14-15, 2008

The Vision of the imagineCALGARY Plan for Long Range Urban Sustainability is a key part of the Plan It Calgary process that’s now taking place within The City of Calgary – and you have a chance to be involved.

The Plan It project is focused on developing a long-term, sustainable plan for both land use and transportation networks across the community. To make sure residents of Calgary have a chance to become involved in the planning process, the Plan It Team is hosting a Summit November 14 to 15 at the Round Up Centre.

The Plan It Summit has been designed for people who are interested in land use and transportation, and who would like to be involved in discussions about how the city should grow in the future. Participants will hear presentations from international experts, learn the results of recent surveys of fellow Calgarians, find out more about what Plan It Calgary means to the city’s future growth, and provide feedback on how the community can best evolve in the future.

There are three options for you to participate – you can choose any or all of them:

2-day Design It Workshop, where you can take part in an interactive 3D planning workshop over two half-days. Individuals can apply to attend this workshop – selected applicants will then be invited to participate after organizers have a chance to ensure a balanced representation from across the community.

Plan It Calgary Summit, for those who would like to hear presentations from experts and be involved in discussions about how the city should grow. These sessions will be held the afternoons of Fri., Nov. 14 and Sat., Nov. 15.

Plan It Calgary Summit Online – this option is available to those who are unable to attend the Summit in person, but who would like to be involved in the planning process. Online participants will receive an email after the Summit is complete, and will be able to access the presentations and Summit summary online.
There’s no cost for attendance at any part of the Plan It Summit, but you do need to register in advance. For more information, or to register online, click here.

The long-term plan produced by the Plan It process will be completed by mid-2009.
