Going Green at the Mayor’s
Environmental Expo

From June 3 to 5, you can help celebrate National Environment Week at the 19th annual Mayor’s Environmental Expo. With more than 50 exhibits, motivational speakers and student-oriented events, there’s plenty to choose from.

This year’s theme – Step Up To Green – showcases how even small changes can make a difference to our environment, and our planet. Most of the events are targeted to students from kindergarten to grade 12, and offer hands-on learning opportunities about the environment.

The Environmental Expo will be held in the Municipal Building Atrium at City Hall (800 Macleod Trail SE). Presenters will use a wide variety of creative elements to share their perspectives, including puppetry, song, dance and demonstrations.

The Mayor’s Environmental Expo will also include a presentation for
corporate Calgary on June 4 with How You Can Minimize Your Domestic Energy Footprint. Ralph Cartar, Associate Professor at The University of Calgary, will be speaking about his experiences developing an off-the-grid house.

This free event is being held from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. in the John Dutton Theatre (second floor of the Calgary Public Library). Good Earth Café will be providing free coffee and dessert.
