imagineCALGARY welcomes Sage Theatre
As a small professional theatre company in Calgary, we know first hand the importance of creating a long- term sustainability plan in order to survive. We also know first hand the importance of connections to one another, to our places, to our communities and beyond.
Theatre as an art form is about collaboration; it is about imagination, passion, connections and action. The arts are an integral part of a great city. Becoming an imagineCALGARY partner was an easy fit with our mandate and vision for the future of Sage Theatre, but we also recognize the importance of influencing our city's social, economic and environmental well-being.
Sage Theatre has recently celebrated our 10-year anniversary of producing professional theatre in Calgary. Our goals align with many of the imagineCALGARY goals and targets. Our focus is on producing evocative, professional theatre in a uniquely intimate environment. We provide paid, inspiring opportunities to Calgary's professional theatre artists. We make a vital investment in the development of local emerging theatre artists. We celebrate and support the significance of the historic Pumphouse Theatre and we foster a passionate, creative and supportive Sage Theatre ‘family’.
Some alignments with the imagineCALGARY Plan are obvious, such as the goals of Aesthetic Enjoyment or Creative Self Expression, and some are not so obvious, such as the Health and Wellness goal and the importance of adequate employment or Relationships or Sense of Community and the importance of connecting with one another through volunteer opportunities.
We believe passionately that Sage Theatre makes a unique and invaluable contribution to Calgary's vibrant and diverse cultural community. The imagineCALGARY Plan will provide us with opportunities to reflect and act on potential collaborative initiatives that will intentionally assure that Calgary is a city that supports exceptional quality of life today and for generations to come.
