Habitat For Humanity in Calgary

Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to helping people access safe, affordable housing. The group has built more than 200,000 homes worldwide, helping low-income families achieve the dream of owning their own homes.

Habitat for Humanity Calgary was formed as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity Canada and Habitat for Humanity International in 1988. Since then, the group has been committed to giving families a hand up so they can afford their own homes.

More than 2,000 volunteers support the Calgary affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. With the help of donors and volunteers, the group has built 84 homes in Calgary, providing homes for 242 children and 125 adults. Globally, Habitat for Humanity has helped house more than 1 million people.

Habitat for Humanity also helps families purchase homes with no-interest, no down payment mortgages. Those who apply for a Habitat for Humanity home must be willing to complete 500 hours of work on their home.

All prospective homeowners must attend an information session on the Habitat Homeownership program. Sessions are being held in the month of September at locations all across the city of Calgary.
