Steering Committee Launches Strategy for imagineCALGARY Partnership

The imagineCALGARY Partnership has reached an important milestone in recent weeks. The creation of a comprehensive strategy for the Partnership is providing the direction, focus and clarity that Partners need to continue making impressive strides in the achievement of the imagineCALGARY Vision.

Last year, imagineCALGARY Partners charged the Steering Committee with the creation of a long-term strategy. This strategy was intended to support the growth and evolution of the Partnership over the next five to seven years. The recently completed Strategy for the imagineCALGARY Partnership 2009-2015 seeks to fulfill its mandate by building upon the action demonstrated by the Partners over the last year.

Continued, focused action throughout the Partnership will be organized around three key areas identified by the Collaborative Action Committee as generating the greatest interest among committee members. These areas are:

Economic Well-Being
Environmental Sustainability
High School Completion / Successful Transitions to Education / Work /Life

The Strategy Plan will support ongoing progress by focusing on the identification of specific goals within these areas, using the detail and targets from The imagineCALGARY Plan For Long Range Urban Sustainability as a foundation. For the year 2009 and forward, collaborative action will continue to grow and progress will be tracked.

“The development of the Strategy for the imagineCALGARY Partnership will help us shape and focus our activities over the next seven years, and build on the impressive progress and initiatives imagineCALGARY Partners have already achieved,” says Debbie Korzeniowski, Steering Committee Co-Coordinator. “The process of developing the Strategy was an important opportunity for the Steering Committee to examine the real progress the Partnership has already achieved, and to find ways to structure future engagement and achievements.”

In addition to its work with specific targets, the Strategy Plan calls for a Resourcing Strategy and Partner Recruitment and Engagement Strategy. These strategies will be created in 2009, and will apply for years to follow.

“The Steering Committee is on track to assist in moving the Partnership forward for a banner year in 2009,” adds Wayne McCready, Steering Committee Co-Coordinator. “We encourage all Partners to review the Strategy Plan and look for upcoming opportunities to fulfill the goals identified in the Plan. There’s no question current and new Partners play an essential role in achieving the imagineCALGARY Vision.”
