imagineCALGARY Partner Survey
Results Are In

In December 2008, imagineCALGARY Partners were asked to participate in a survey evaluating the first year of the Partnership’s new structure. Twenty-six responses were collected and provided great feedback on the Committee approach, progress towards imagineCALGARY Targets and the state of the Partnership.

“The results of the survey are providing key direction and feedback to help focus the Partnership’s activities,” says John Lewis, Coordinator of the Communications and Awareness Committee and one of the survey’s organizers. “We were pleased to note that 80 per cent of Partners are seeing a positive shift in momentum for the imagineCALGARY initiative – that certainly bodes well for our future growth.”

The survey included several questions designed to determine if imagineCALGARY Partners felt informed, connected to the Partnership, and if they felt momentum/enthusiasm for imagineCALGARY was growing. “One of the key areas we wanted to address is the amount of progress that’s occurring with imagineCALGARY Targets,” John says. “We were very pleased to see that more than 70 per cent of Partners reported moderate to very high progress in the achievement of imagineCALGARY Targets. This year, in collaboration with the other imagineCALGARY Committees, we hope to have a more comprehensive reporting structure on how our Partners are acting towards the Vision.”

Questions from the survey included:

Question: Through our communication vehicles (e-newsletter, website, special notices), how informed do you feel you were in 2008 about imagineCALGARY events, Partner initiatives, etc?

Not informed - 0%
Moderately informed – 26.9%
Adequately informed – 53.8%
Very informed – 19.2%

Question: In 2008, what kind of shift in momentum and/or enthusiasm did you feel occurred within the imagineCALGARY Partnership?

No shift in momentum/enthusiasm – 20%
Minor shift in momentum/enthusiasm – 60%
Significant shift in momentum/enthusiasm – 20%

Question: The unifying theme of the imagineCALGARY Vision is "connections." In 2008, did you feel connected to the work of imagineCALGARY - either within your organization or within the Partnership?

I/my organization didn’t feel connected at all – 19.2%
I/my organization felt somewhat connected – 46.2%
I/my organization felt extremely connected – 34.6%

Question: In 2008, what kind of progress have you made in implementing sustainability / your imagineCALGARY Targets in 2008?

No progress – 8.3%
Very little – 20.8%
Moderate – 41.7%
High – 25.0%
Very high – 4.2%

In addition to these questions, there were a number of comments that provided great insights and ideas for the evolution of the imagineCALGARY Partnership. Some of these included:

“I think requesting annual written progress reports from individual Partners would be very helpful in determining where and how action/progress is occurring.”
“The committee structure is great, however, without paid staff resources to support the work of the committees I am not clear on how we can grow the movement (this is speaking from a perspective that I have not been able to contribute much outside of attending meetings because I simply don't have extra time or support staff to carry out some of the work that needs to be done - therefore, I rarely put up my hand at committee and step up to the plate). In addition, we need to broaden the membership and profile. This takes time through relationship development - volunteers don't necessarily have the time nor the mandate from their own organizations.”
“Need to establish the ‘value added’ for being a Partner and including imagineCALGARY goals in their day-to-day operations.”
“Increased collaboration between the committees. More information on the work of the other committees would help.”
