Celebrate Earth Day on April 22
People across the community will be recognizing the importance of sustainability and environmental protection during the 2009 Earth Day. The Mayor has proclaimed April 22nd as Earth Day, and with events like the 20 Minute Makeover and an Ecofair, The City of Calgary is promoting acts of green all across Calgary.
Joining with the community and several corporate partners, The City has organized a host of events to promote environmental stewardship and everyday, earth friendly actions that reduce our Ecological Footprint. The City Hall Ecofair will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22nd, and will offer Calgarians a chance to learn about the simple actions they can take to make every day Earth Day.
Alderman Joe Ceci has initiated a 20 Minute Makeover for Ward 9 that is now a citywide event. On Earth Day, Alderman Ceci is asking all Calgarians at work, school or home to stop what they are doing and take just 20 minutes to pick up, sweep up and clean up around the office, school or neighborhood. It’s just 20 minutes, but it can make a huge difference in helping to green our everyday spaces.
