Committee Updates April 2008

On March 13, members of all three imagineCALGARY Committees gathered to discuss their workplans and identify areas of potential conflict or gaps between them. In an interactive session, the Committee members discovered that there is a great deal of alignment across the efforts of the Steering Committee, the Communications and Awareness Committee and the Collaborative Action Committee.

In seeing this alignment, the group endorsed the Steering Committee to move ahead with their work on scoping future directions for the growth of imagineCALGARY. The group was also encouraged by the three action areas identified by the Collaborative Action Committee – economic well-being, environmental sustainability, and high school completion / successful transitions to education/work/life. Some of the discussion around gaps related to recruitment and how to effectively find a place for new Partners once they join the imagineCALGARY Partnership.

Susan Hayduk, a Collaborative Action Committee member and member of the City of Calgary’s Eco Footprint Team, presented Committee members with information on the upcoming Earth Day event on April 22. The group then shared examples of what their organizations are doing to lower their environmental impact.

The March 13 meeting was an excellent opportunity to connect the work of the three Committees and provides a context on the big picture of action on imagineCALGARY as the Committees continue to deliver on their respective workplans.
